Leadership. Experience. Vision.
When Mayor Maguire ran for his first re-election in 2010, his campaign was built around a simple conviction:
Eagan is a successful city and a strong community. I’m seeking re-election to preserve our community’s proud commitment to the core values of responsibility and stewardship.
Fifteen years later, that still holds. Eagan has progressed and navigated through challenges that couldn’t have been anticipated in 2010 — because the values that guide good governance don’t expire.
Responsibility and stewardship aren’t talking points for Mayor Maguire. They’re a way of making decisions, year after year, building a team, and over time earning the trust of fellow council members and the Eagan community — over time.
A Successful City
A successful city sets measurable goals and consistently achieves results. It builds the conditions for success and then protects them, through growth and recession, through change and challenge, year after year.
From a rural township to a mature suburb of 68,000 residents, Eagan has grown without losing what made it worth choosing in the first place. A thriving local economy, major employers who invest, parks and green space that breathe life into neighborhoods, infrastructure that works; a sense of community that doesn’t erode just because a city gets bigger.
That doesn’t happen without deliberate, experienced leadership. Here is Mayor Maguire’s record of success.
A Strong Community
A strong community is less about budgets and buildings or jobs and numbers. It’s measured by its people, making connections, feeling invested, welcome, and seen. If successful cities are responsible to a standard of performance, strong communities, like Eagan, are about stewardship of one another and the natural and social environment around us.
Eagan is fortunate. We’ve built a successful city AND a strong community — they reinforce each other. The community strength Eagan enjoys today didn’t emerge overnight. It was cultivated deliberately, over decades, through investments in people, places, and values that compound over time.
The seeds for today’s strong community were planted early and nurtured over time. Here’s how they’ve grown into full bloom.
