Mayor Mike Maguire’s Experienced Leadership.
Before his 2002 election to the Eagan City Council, Mike Maguire’s education and experience prepared him to collaborate with Eagan’s staff, officials, community leaders, and residents in a professional, nonpartisan manner to address the city’s challenges. His consensus-building leadership style has helped the Council identify problems and develop solutions. Maguire has also represented Eagan at regional, state, and sometimes federal levels on issues like housing, public safety, economic development, and municipal policy, shaping the metro area and Minnesota.

When Mayor Maguire isn’t working in city hall, at meetings, or in the community, he’s often on a golf course. Twenty years ago, City Administrator Tom Hedges suggested: “the Mayor really should play in the Eagan Citizen’s Crime Prevention Tournament.” So, later in life, Mike picked up his golf clubs and has become an enthusiastic, albeit struggling, golfer.
He’s also a devoted fantasy football commissioner and plays fantasy baseball and golf, all of which require strategic thinking, data analysis, and tolerance for humbling outcomes — essential skills for public service in elective office.
