Maguire puts politics aside, gets things doneAt a time when seemingly everything in politics has become partisan, it's worth remembering that local government works best when we put politics aside and focus on getting things done.
That's exactly the kind of leadership Mike Maguire has provided as mayor of Eagan.
I spent several years working for another longtime Eagan resident, former Gov. Tim Pawlenty. That experience taught me a lot about leadership, public service and the importance of delivering results.
Mike and I might not agree on every political issue. But that's not what matters when it comes to running our city. We don't need partisan politics at City Hall. We need leaders who listen, make thoughtful decisions, manage taxpayer dollars responsibly and work with people across the political spectrum.
Mike has done exactly that.
And the results speak for themselves.
Eagan maintains a AAA bond rating, the highest possible, reflecting the city's strong financial management. The Minnesota Center for Fiscal Excellence even recognized Eagan as Minnesota's fiscally healthiest city.
Those aren't just impressive statistics. They reflect years of responsible decisions that benefit taxpayers, businesses and families who call Eagan home.
Eagan has earned a reputation as a well-run city with excellent public services, strong neighborhoods, thriving businesses and an outstanding quality of life. That doesn't happen by accident. It takes steady, experienced leadership and a commitment to doing what's right for the community.
Mike Maguire has been a big part of that success.
We should expect our local elected officials to put community ahead of politics. Mike has demonstrated that commitment throughout his time as mayor.
He's earned another term, and I hope Eagan voters will join me in supporting his reelection.
